Assignment of unit categories

The complexity of maintenance procedures varies significantly. Procedures
have been assigned to one of three unit categories, indicating the level of
difficulty and required qualification.
At the beginning of each procedure, the involved unit category is indicated by
one of the symbols introduced in this section.

Customer Replaceable Units (CRU)

Customer Replaceable Units (CRU)
Customer Replaceable Units are intended for customer self service and may
be installed or replaced as hot-plug components during operation.
Components that the customer is entitled to replace may differ
according to the service form in his country.

Hot-plug components increase system availability and guarantee a high degree
of data integrity and fail-safe performance. Procedures can be carried out
without shutting down the server or going offline.
