Crushed Glass Installation (Optional)


Do not allow the crushed glass to block the air slots or to become too thick (maximum 1 layer
deep on the burner). Failure to properly install glass may lead to sooting and poor performance.

Make sure the gas control valve is OFF and the heater is cool prior to conducting service.

If using propane (LP), convert the appliance before installing the media

This appliance requires the use of a fireback kit. Install the Fireback BEFORE installing the
media.
Measuring Glass Quantity
Travis Industries offers glass in 10-lb. boxes. The 616 Mod-Fyre uses 8 lbs. of glass so it is
important to measure out the appropriate amount of glass for installation. Use a liquid measuring cup
to accurately determine the amount of glass used.
1 Level Cup (8 fl. oz.) (240ml) = 0.95 lbs.
1. Use a 1/4" nut driver to remove (2) screws that secure
the pilot cover to the media tray and remove the pilot
cover. Gently pull the silicone sleeve from the spark
electrode on the pilot assembly and re-install the pilot
cover (make sure not to overtighten the screws).
