3.1.1. Installing the Azimuth Motor

NOTE: If a tension device/meter is not available please ensure there is little to no movement in the
belt after tensioning is completed.
6. Place motor mounting plate onto gear reducer and align with mounting holes. Insert motor
shaft through the opening in the AZ chassis, and carefully pull the AZ belt back latching it on
the motor. Ensure belt teeth are properly aligned on the pulley and bearing groves. Install (4)
reducer mounting screws applying loctite. Do not fully tighten these screws until the motor had
been properly tensioned.

7. To set tension correctly on the Azimuth Motor Belt please follow the following procedure

8. Once the belt is in place, pull back on the motor thus applying tension onto the belt.
NOTE: Adjustment must be completed within 5 minutes of applying Loctite to threads.
9. Measure the tension on the AZ belt using a Belt Tension Device/Meter. 755/981/985 should be
285Hz ± 15 and 1201 should be 375Hz ± 19. DO NOT OVER TENSION THIS BELT.
