To install a desktop or rack-mounted TS3400 Tape Library, perform the procedures in
this chapter in the order they are presented.

Choosing a Location

Choose a location that meets the following criteria:

must be easily accessible at all times.

The library should be placed in an area with minimal sources of
particulate contamination. Avoid areas near frequently used doors and
walkways, stacks of supplies that collect dust, printers, and
smoke-filled rooms. Excessive dust and debris can damage tapes and
tape drives.
• Back: Minimum of 15 cm (6 in.)
• Front: Minimum of 30 cm (12 in.)
• Sides: Minimum of 5 cm (2 in.)
Standard EIA 19-inch rack: 5U space
