2 Initial Setup

About this chapter
This chapter describes the initial setup procedure required to use
the Surface.
* The initial setup procedure is as follows:
・Setup procedure when starting up the Surface for the first
time
・Wi-Fi connection procedure
・Procedure for setting up an Office 365 account
・Sign-in procedure for your Office 365 account
Please note:
1 To complete the steps in this chapter, you need to be connected to Wi-Fi
and signed in to your Office 365 account.
2 For instructions on how to operate the software (such as how to use
Microsoft Word or browse the internet) after completing the procedures in
this chapter, please check by yourself.
We cannot accept any inquiries about how to use Microsoft Word, how to
connect to the internet, or any other information not described in this manual.
3 When you perform Windows Update, the background and icons may differ
from the images shown in this chapter.
4 All usernames in the procedure were created as examples for this
procedure. Please create your own username.
5 If you are unable to complete the settings when you start up the Surface for
the first time, connect to Wi-Fi, or create and sign in to your Office 365
account, then please contact us.
