Aluminum Spindle Assembly
Deck: Service and Repairs

1. Clean and inspect all surfaces.
2. Using the appropriate sized bearing driver, install the upper bearing until
seated.
Note: Gently tap driver to avoid damaging the bearing during install.
3. Rotate spindle assembly and install the bearing spacer.
4. Using an appropriate bearing driver, install the remaining bearing until seated.
5. Place the bottom bearing guard onto the spindle shaft.
6. Install the spindle shaft into the housing.
Note: Verify proper orientation of the spindle.
7. Place the upper bearing guard onto the spindle shaft.
8. Place the pulley onto the spindle shaft.
9. Install the nut. Torque nut to 130-176 N•m (130-160 ft-lb).
10. Rotate the spindle shaft in housing to verify operation.
11. Place the housing ring onto the spindle studs (if applicable).
12. Place the spindle housing into the deck.
13. Install the 6 (3/8 inch) flange lock nuts to the studs. Torque lock nuts 38-44
N•m (27–33 ft-lb).
14. Install the belt guide bracket (if applicable).
15. Install the hex blade driver into the blade.
16. Install the blade and driver to the spindle. Torque to 68-81 N•m (50-60 ft-lb).
17. Install the deck belt.
18. Start the mower and engage the deck several time to ensure proper
operation.
