Problem
Transfer ribbon
creases.
Print image has
smears or voids.
Printer does not stop
after transfer ribbon
runs out.
Printer prints a
sequence of
characters instead of
the label format.
Printer transports
label media, but
transfer ribbon does
not move.
Printer only prints
every second label.
Vertical white lines
appear in the print
image.
Horizontal white lines
appear in the print
image.
Print image is
irregular, one side is
lighter.

Cause
Transfer ribbon is too
wide.
Printhead is dirty.
Temperature is too high.
Combination of labels
and transfer ribbon is
incorrect.
Thermal printing is
chosen in the software.
Printer is in ASCII Dump
mode.
Transfer ribbon
incorrectly inserted.
Combination of labels
and transfer ribbon is
incorrect.
Size setting in the
software is too large.
Printhead is dirty.
Printhead is defective
(heat element failure).
Printer is used with
backfeed > smart
in the Tear-off or Peel-off
mode.
Printhead is dirty.
Remedy
Use a transfer ribbon slightly
wider than the width of label.
Refer to Cleaning the Printhead
and Media Feed Rollers on

Decrease temperature through
the software.
Use a different type of ribbon.
Change to thermal transfer
printing.
Cancel the ASCII Dump mode.
Check and, if necessary, correct
the transfer ribbon web and the
orientation of the label.
Use a different type of ribbon.
Change the size in the software.
