Troubleshooting

If a Test Fails

If any test fails, you can get additional information by
highlighting the test that failed in the Run Tests dialog box
and pressing [Enter]. You can also highlight the <Zoom>
command button and press [Enter]. The program notifies
you of the error and suggests actions you can take to solve
the problem.

Setting Up the Group 2 Test

CAUTION: Do not use an active network to run the
Group 2 test.
Group 2 tests the adapter's ability to transmit and receive
data over the network. This test requires installation of a
loopback plug at the adapter's transceiver connection.
Or, you can run the test on an inactive network.
NOTE: There is no loopback test available for the
3C529-TP adapter.

Connecting a Loopback Plug

Follow these steps:
1. Connect the loopback plug to the round BNC
connector on the back of the 3C529 adapter.
2. Enable the Group 2 test from the Test Setup
dialog box. Highlight <OK> and press [Enter].
3. Go to the Run Tests dialog box to start the test.
4. After the test is completed:
a. Exit the Configuration and Diagnostic Program.
b. Remove the loopback plug.
