■ Usage precautions for fingerprint sensor
• The fingerprint sensor malfunction may occur if dirt adheres to the
surface of the fingerprint sensor or your finger. Wipe any dirt with
a soft cloth before use. Also wrinkled finger with water may cause
malfunction.
• Do not strike the terminal or give a hard shock. May cause failure or
damage. Do not scratch the surface of the fingerprint sensor or pick
with a pointed objected, such as a nib.
• Rubbing hard with a fingernail or hard object such as metal piece of
strap may scratch the surface of the fingerprint sensor.
• Dirt with mud etc. or scratch on the surface of the fingerprint sensor
may cause failure or damage.
• Do not attach a sticker or paint with ink etc. on the fingerprint sensor.
• Dirt of dust, sebum, etc. may make fingerprint scanning difficult
or reduce the authentication performance. Clean occasionally the
fingerprint sensor surface.
• When fingerprint registration or authentication fails often, clean the
surface of the fingerprint sensor. The phenomenon may be improved.
• To clean the fingerprint sensor, wipe its surface with a dry, soft and
static-free cloth. Long-term use may cause the fingerprint sensor to
get dusty, but do not try to remove the dust with a pointed object
even in such a case.
• Static electricity may cause malfunction. Before placing the finger on
the fingerprint sensor, eliminate static electricity by touching a metal
object with the hand, etc. Take particular care in dry seasons such as
winter.
Setting fingerprint authentication
Register fingerprints or set function to use. You can register up to 3
fingerprints.
■ Registering fingerprints

From the Home screen, "apps folder" → "Settings" →
"Biometrics and security" → "Fingerprint Scanner"
• When the security unlock method which requires authentication is
selected, proceed to Step 3 after the authentication.

"CONTINUE" → Set the unlock method of screen lock
• For unlock method of screen lock, see "Setting unlock method for
the screen lock" (P.113).

After this step, follow the onscreen instructions to register
fingerprint
■ Removing fingerprints

From the Home screen, "apps folder" → "Settings" →
"Biometrics and security" → "Fingerprint Scanner"
• Cancel the security to protect fingerprint.

Touch and hold the fingerprint to unregister → "REMOVE" →
"REMOVE"
Authenticating fingerprint

When the fingerprint authentication screen appears, place
your finger all over the fingerprint sensor
• If the authentication failed, remove the finger from the fingerprint
sensor and try the authentication again.
Information
• When you do not use the fingerprint to unlock the screen of the
terminal, set "Fingerprint unlock" to OFF on the FINGERPRINT
SCANNER screen.
• When the security is not registered correctly, tap
screen lock using the method of unlock when you registered the
fingerprint.
• If fingerprint authentication failed 5 times consecutively, a message
indicating to retry in 30 seconds appears.
