Procedure

1. Start the Modbus RTU master in your automation system and address the slave
(3RW5 soft starter) using the station address currently stored in the 3RW5 Modbus RTU
communication module. For first commissioning and after restoration of the factory
settings, this station address has the factory setting (Page 82).
2. By means of the "Modbus RTU communication parameters" (Page 177) data table, set
the required station address in the 3RW5 soft starter.
Note the information in chapter Station address (Page 82).

Writing down the station address
Write down the set station address that you have just set. To change the configuration,
the station address currently stored in the 3RW5 Modbus RTU communication module
must be known. You need a 3RW5 HMI High Feature to restore the factory settings.
3. Enter the modified station address of the slave in the Modbus RTU master.
Note the information in chapter Station address (Page 82).
4. Load the configuration into the Modbus RTU master (if necessary).
Result
The 3RW5 soft starter is configured in the Modbus RTU system and can communicate with
other Modbus RTU devices via the 3RW5 Modbus RTU communication module.
