3.8.1 Bus connection cable and bus connector for Modbus TCP
For connection, use only angled industrial bus connectors with a RJ45 socket for Industrial
Ethernet.

Damage to the cable, bus connector and 3RW5 communication module
If you use unsuitable bus connectors, the following can happen:
• The hinged cover of the 3RW5 soft starter does not close.
• The connecting cable is impermissibly bent.
• The bus connector or the 3RW5 communication module is damaged.
Use bus connectors with a right-angled cable outlet and dimensions that match the
recommended bus connector.

3.8.2 Bus connection cable for Modbus RTU
Use only twisted pair bus connection cables (RS 485) for connection.
Strip back the insulation of the the pair of cores for signal transmission and the core of the
Com cable. You will find further information and requirements for stripping insulation in the
Technical Data (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/ps/16212/td) and on the
3RW5 communication module.
