13.4 CPU reset to factory settings
Procedure using the mode selector
Make sure that the CPU is in STOP: The RUN/STOP LED lights up in yellow.
Note
Reset to factory settings ↔ Memory reset
The procedure described below corresponds to the procedure for a memory reset:
• Selector operation with inserted SIMATIC memory card: CPU executes a memory reset
• Selector operation without inserted SIMATIC memory card: CPU executes reset to factory
settings
Restore the factory settings of the CPU as follows:
1. Set the mode selector to the STOP position.
Result: The RUN/STOP LED lights up yellow.
2. Remove the SIMATIC memory card from the CPU. Wait until the RUN/STOP LED stops
flashing.
3. Set the mode selector to the MRES position. Hold the mode selector in this position until
the RUN/STOP LED lights up for the second time and remains lit (this takes three
seconds). After this, release the selector.
4. Within the next three seconds, switch the mode selector back to the MRES position, and
then back to STOP again.
Result: The CPU executes a "Reset to factory settings", during which time the RUN/STOP
LED flashes yellow. When the RUN/STOP LED lights up yellow, then the CPU has been
reset to factory settings, and is in the STOP mode. The "Reset to factory settings" event is
entered into the diagnostics buffer.
Note
The IP address of the CPU is also deleted when the CPU is reset to the factory settings
through the mode selector.
