Fuses
The fuse box (1) Is located in the en
gine com partm ent.

Fuse arrangem ent in the box — sta rt
ing at engine side, proceeding from
inside to outside —
upper row: odd num bers
1 , 3 , 5 etc. up to 15;
lower row: even num bers
2, 4, 6 etc. up to 16.
Fuses m ust not be repaired or
bridged.
Spare fuses are stored in the fuse box
(observe am perage and color code).
D eterm ine the cause of a short p rior
to replacing a bu rn e d -o u t fuse.
Battery
Replenish with distilled w ater
a pproxim ately every 4 weeks, and
m ore often in sum m er and in hot
zones.
Do not use metal funnels and do not
p erforate the diaphragm of the bat
tery overfill protection.
The battery is filled to the m axim um
level when the w ater level in the cell
filling cham ber stops going down.
If battery acid is to be extracted for
battery diagnosis purposes, p e rfo
rate the diaphragm with the h yd ro
m eter or the tube attached to it.
E le ctrica l System
Coat battery term inal clam ps with
a c id p ro o f grease. Keep battery clean
and dry.
Only tow vehicle with the battery
connected.
Only charge battery with the rapid
charger when it is disconnected from
the vehicle circuit.
Note:
W hile the engine is running the bat
tery term inal clam ps m ust not be
loosened or detached as otherwise
the a lternator and other electronic
units w ould be dam aged.
Spark Plugs
This vehicle is equipped with spark
plugs as required fo r driving in the
USA. S hould additional inform ation
be necessary, your MERCEDES-
BENZ dealer will be happy to offer
advice.
