C atalytic C o n verter C autions
Your MERCEDES-BENZ is equipped
with m onolithic catalytic converters,
an im p o rta nt elem ent in conjunction
with the 0 2-sensor to achieve sub ­
stantial control of the pollutants in the
exhaust em issions. Keep your vehicle
in p roper operating condition by
follow ing our recom m ended m ainte­
nance instructions as outlined in
your m aintenance booklet.
Should any noticeable irregularities
in the engine operation occur such
as m isfiring of one or m ore cylinders,
indicated by audible signs, excessive
unburned fuel may reach the co n ­
verter causing it to overheat. C on­
tinued operation of your vehicle can
result in dam age to the converter.
For the same reason we caution
against:
• M isuse or abuse of your vehicle
engine
• Refueling with leaded gasoline
• Excessive idling with cold engine
• Push o r tow starting your vehicle
with hot engine.
As with any vehicle, do not idle or
park or operate this vehicle in areas
w here co m b ustib le m aterials such as
grass, hay o r leaves can com e into
contact with a hot exhaust system,
as these m aterials could be ignited.
