(LEF2-300 + D-KIT). Read this document together with the LEF2-300 Regular Maintenance Guide.
The D-KIT is an option that extends the height limit of the LEF2-300 to 200 mm. This option can be selected at the time that a new

    Spacer Table Attachment/Removal Attach or remove the spacer table according to the thickness of the object to be printed on. • Thickness of object to be printed on is 0 to 100 mm (0 to 3.94 in.): Attach • Thickness of object to be printed on is 100 to 200 mm (3.94 to 7.87 in.): Remove The spacer table does not have a suction function.

The side with a notch at the fixing location is the rear side, and the side without a notch is the front side. Hold the left and right sides of the spacer table, and place the spacer table in the position shown in the figure.

    Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Printing Tests and Normal Cleaning • Be sure to perform a printing test before daily operations to check whether normal cleaning is necessary. • If dot drop-out or dot displacement is present after refreshing the heads and performing a printing test, perform normal cleaning.
  • Page 13 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Set the lower-right corner of the object to be printed on to the base printing position. Set the base printing position (home position) at the front right of the print area. This method is appropriate when the print site is level, and you can clearly specify the print area.
  • Page 14 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Secure the paper for the printing test. Printing tests are used to check that no dot drop-out occurs. Use paper for testing (width 110 mm (4.33 in.) × length 70 mm (2.76 in.) or more), not the object that will actually be printed on. MEMO There are two types of printing tests.

If the object to be printed on hits the head gap sensor forcefully, the object to be printed on may be damaged or the head gap sensor may malfunction.

WIDTH: XXX.Xmm LENGTH:XXX.Xmm MEMO • The previously set values are displayed for "WIDTH" and "LENGTH." • When the object to be printed on comes into contact with the head gap sensor, the screen shown below appears and the setup is canceled.

Procedure Before the start of daily operations, remove just the white ink cartridge, shake it 50 times (about 20 seconds), and then reinsert it. So that the ink mixes well, shake the ink cartridge horizontally with a stroke length of around 5 cm (2 in.) from each end of the ink cartridge.
  • Page 18 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Check whether there is dot drop-out or dot displacement in the test pattern. Missing blocks indicate dot drop-out. Collapsed or inclined blocks indicate dot displacement. The following figure shows the "TEST PRINT 2" test pattern. If you have opened the front cover, close it.

They are visible using the reflection of the light. Press [ ]. Select the group of print heads to clean. Press [ ] or [ ] to select the group of print heads that is not to be cleaned.

    Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Press [ENTER]. Printing of the test pattern starts. Check to make sure the dot drop-out or dot displacement has been corrected. If the problem persists, try performing normal cleaning again. If the printer has been used for a long period, dot drop-outs may not be fixed even after performing normal cleaning two or three times.
  • Page 21 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily IMPORTANT Continue using the same head refresher with a single machine. Using a head refresher with multiple machines may lead to print head malfunctions. IMPORTANT Be sure to hold the handle of the front cover and open and close it gently. Procedure If the following message is displayed, press [ENTER].
  • Page 22 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily If no spacer table is attached, attach the head refresher spacer. IMPORTANT Do not attach the head refresher spacer if the spacer table is already attached. Attach the head refresher to the spacer table in the prescribed location on the spacer table or to the head refresher spacer.
  • Page 23 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Remove the head refresher cover. IMPORTANT Do not place the cover on the flat table. The cover being pinched between the head refresher and a part of the machine may lead to malfunctions. To avoid the risk of malfunctions, do not place the cover on the flat table.
  • Page 24 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Point • As a guideline, apply two drops (A) or three drops (B) of cleaning liquid to a single cleaning pad. Apply cleaning liquid as shown in the following figure, using the holes in the sheet retaining cover (a total of 16 holes) as guidelines for the positions where to apply the liquid.
  • Page 25 Quickly dispose of used head cleaning sheets. Leaving a used head cleaning sheet inside the machine may lead to the machine's painting peeling off. To purchase head cleaning sheets, contact your authorized Roland DG Corporation dealer or visit our website (http://www.rolanddg.com/).
  • Page 26 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Remove the head refresher and head refresher spacer. MEMO You can place the head refresher in the space on the left side of the machine. Do not place anything here other than the head refresher, head refresher spacer, head cleaning sheet, and bottle for head refreshing.

    10 minutes. • Never use any implements other than the included cleaning sticks. Cotton swabs or other lint-producing items may damage the print heads. To purchase cleaning sticks, contact your authorized Roland DG Corporation dealer or visit our website (http://www.rolanddg.com/).

  • Page 29 Manual Cleaning Touch the location shown in the figure to discharge any static electricity. Moisten the cleaning stick with the cleaning liquid. IMPORTANT Be sure to use one of the included cleaning sticks. Clean the locations shown in the following figure. Clean only the metal frame.
  • Page 30 Manual Cleaning Clean the locations shown in the following figure. Only stroke the sponges gently, do not rub them forcefully. When you have finished cleaning, close the maintenance cover. Close the front cover. Press [ENTER]. The screen shown below appears. Proceed to step P.
