    Cleaning the Machine Cleaning the Machine on a Daily Basis As part of daily cleaning, wipe away any buildup of ink or grime that has adhered to the machine. In particular, the flat table is likely to have a buildup of grime. Clean by wiping with a cloth moistened by neutral detergent diluted with water then wrung dry.

    Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Maintenance of Ink Cartridges The precipitation of the ingredients in the ink disables printing in normal color. So that the ink mixes well, shake the ink cartridge horizontally with a stroke length of around 5 cm (2 in.) from each end of the ink cartridge.

  • Page 25 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily M E M O • The previously set values are displayed for "WIDTH" and "LENGTH." • When the object to be printed on comes into contact with the head gap sensor, the screen shown below appears and the setup is canceled.
  • Page 26 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Perform a printing test. Before you carry out actual printing, perform a printing test to ensure no dot drop-out or dot dis- placement occurs. Procedure Before the start of daily operations, remove just the white ink cartridge, shake it 50 times (about 20 seconds), and then reinsert it.
  • Page 27 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Check whether there is dot drop-out or dot displacement in the test pattern. Missing blocks indicate dot drop-out. Collapsed or inclined blocks indicate dot displacement. The following figure shows the "TEST PRINT 2" test pattern. If you have opened the front cover, close it.

    Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Press [ENTER]. Printing of the test pattern starts. Check to make sure the dot drop-out or dot displacement has been corrected. If the problem persists, try performing normal cleaning again. If the printer has been used for a long period, dot drop-outs may not be fixed even after performing normal cleaning two or three times.

However, the same message will be dis- played once a certain amount of time has passed and in specific situations (such as before the start of manual cleaning and during wiper replacement).
  • Page 31 Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily I M P O R TA N T Do not place the cover on the flat table. The cover being pinched between the head refresher and a part of the machine may lead to mal- functions.

Apply 1 drop of cleaning liquid in each location, using the holes in the sheet retaining cover (8 holes in the front and 8 holes in the back for a total of 16 holes) as guidelines for the positions where to apply the liquid.

Reusing cleaning sticks immediately or after time has passed will have a negative effect on the print heads.
