Service and support
PRIMERGY servers are service-friendly and modular, enabling quick and easy
maintenance.
The handles and locking mechanisms (touch points) are colored so that they
can be quickly and easily identified. Blue touch points indicate components that
can be replaced without any tools. Green touch points indicate hot-plug
component, which can be replaced or added without tools while the server is
online (see also "Hot plug components" on page 77).
The LocalView module on the front of the server allows you to check the status
of the essential system components at any time without opening the housing.

The diagnostic LEDs on the hot-plug components (power supply units, fans, PCI
boards, memory boards, HDD modules) provide additional information.
The Global Flash tool supplied with the utilities from Fujitsu Siemens Computers
supports a fast remote BIOS update using the LAN interface. The BIOS can be
updated locally via USB. The optional RemoteView remote testing and
diagnostics system allows you to maintain your server remotely.
RemoteView
RemoteView is the remote management solution from Fujitsu Siemens
Computers for PRIMERGY systems. RemoteView and the relevant hardware
components integrated on the system board allow remote monitoring and
maintenance as well as fast restoration of operation in the event of errors.
The RemoteView tool provides you with a comprehensive remote testing and
diagnostics package. Remote monitoring and maintenance avoids time-
consuming and costly on-site repairs and reduces service costs. This reduces
the total cost of ownership and ensures an excellent return on investment for the
remote management solution.
