Introduction
Features
PCI SAS RAID Controller in its designated PCI slot no. 4
A PCI SAS RAID Controller is provided in the designated slot (no. 4), which
allows you to use eight SAS hard disk drives. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 are
supported. A BBU protects the contents of the memory if a power failure occurs.
Accessible drives/components
A number of mounting locations are available:
– A slot for a LocalView module (standard)
– A slot for a slimline CD or DVD drive (standard)
– A slot for a 5.25-inch SCSI magnetic tap drive (optional)
The accessible drives/components integrated here cannot be replaced while
the server is online.
Power supply
The server has two hot-pluggable power supply units, which automatically set
to a voltage range of 200 V - 240 V. This ensures a redundant power supply. If
one power supply unit fails, the other then ensures that the server can continue
to operate as normal. The faulty power supply unit can be replaced while the
server is online (for more details, see section
"Replacing hot-plug power supply
units" on page
77).
Cooling
The system is cooled by four hot-plug system fans (redundant configuration).
Each fan unit contains two system fans. Cooling is regulated and adjusted using
temperature sensors. If a failure occurs or if a temperature sensor is removed,
the affected system fans operate at maximum rotation speed to ensure the
highest possible level of protection for the hardware. When the housing cover is
off, all system fans operate at maximum rotation speed
If a system fan fails, the server can still continue operating as normal. A faulty
fan unit can be replaced while the server is online (for more details, see section
"Replacing hot-plug fan units" on page
79).
