Chapter 3: Introduction

The Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 chassis provides the physical framework for the Avaya Ethernet
Routing Switch 8300 modules.
This document provides the instructions for installing the Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 chassis
(8306 and 8310 chassis) in an equipment rack. This document also describes some of the routine tasks
that you use to operate the Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 and includes technical specifications for
the chassis and modules.

Prerequisites

Before you install the Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 chassis, ensure that you use
standard cable-system practices to install all network wiring on the premises.
