Installing the Driver

In order to send data from a third party labeling program to the BMP
Windows (printer) driver on to the computer containing that program. The driver can be found on the
USB drive enclosed with the printer.

Configuring the Wi-Fi

®
The BMP
61 printer can be configured one of two ways:
Wi-Fi Direct - This is the default factory setting of the printer and does not need configuration with a
computer. Best for printers that are used in the field. The printer gets configured as a Wi-Fi hotspot,
hosting its own network name and password. Other wireless devices can tether directly to this Wi-Fi
hotspot using the same network name and password. Users will ONLY have access to the printer;
Internet is not available.
Wi-Fi (LAN) - Best for printers that usually will stay in a building connected to a local area network
(LAN), such as an office or home network. The printer gets configured with the network name and
password. After setup, the printer becomes a peripheral device available to any user connected to that
network. Most LANs also include Internet, so users can access the printer and the Internet at the same
time.
To connect the printer to a LAN, insert the USB drive which came with the printer into a USB port on a
computer and double-click the Windows driver. Then follow the instructions on the computer screen.
If you are unable to find the USB drive that came with the printer the driver can be downloaded from
the Brady website: www.bradyid.com/owner/bmp61.
1. Insert the USB Drive into your computer.
2. Double-click on the Instructions folder and then double-click the Windows Driver.exe to open
the installation wizard.
3. Follow the instructions on the computer screen.

Pause/Cut Preference

The Pause/Cut function allows you to remove a label from the printer before another label starts
printing. If this feature is turned on, when printing a string of labels, cutting a label initiates the next
label to print. When the feature is turned off the label can be fed without cutting.
After the printer driver is installed, access the printer and set the Pause/Cut preference.
1. In Windows XP, click Start, then choose Settings > Printers and Faxes.
OR
In Windows 7, click Start, then choose Devices & Printers.
OR
In Windows 8 or Windows 10, using the Search feature in the Charms bar, search for Devices
and Printers.
2. In the list of available printers, right click BMP
The Layout tab of Printing Preferences displays.
