t Set your TV's code number. The code number may change when you
replace the batteries for the remote commander (see page 9).
t Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a dry, soft cloth, or a soft
cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use
any type of solvent, such as alcohol or benzene.
t The clock stops if the VCR is disconnected from the mains for more
than one hour. Reset the clock and timer if needed (see page 22).
t Connect the mains lead to the mains securely.
t Moisture condensation has occurred. Turn the power off, unplug the
mains lead and leave the VCR to dry for over three hours.
t You have set a timer recording, but the tape on which you want to
record is protected (or contains protected recordings). Unlock the
protection or use another tape or replace the safety tab (see page 101).
t The VCR is in power save mode. Set the POWER SAVE option to
OFF in the OTHER OPTIONS menu (see page 74).
t The display is always lit if the VCR is in timer standby mode. For
more details regarding the energy saving function, see page 74.
t You have set a timer recording, but the tape on which you want to
record is protected (or contains protected recordings). Unlock the
protection or use another tape or replace the safety tab (see page 101).
t Check that a tape isn't already in the tape compartment.
t Check that your TV complies with SMARTLINK, NexTView Link,
MEGALOGIC, EASYLINK/CinemaLink, Q-Link or TV-LINK.
t Make sure you use a 21-pin Scart cable to connect the VCR and your
TV.
t Make sure the Scart cable is connected securely. Refer to your TV
manual for instructions.
