Handling The Printer

ALWAYS use two people to lift printer. Handholds are located on
the left and right sides of the printer. One person should grab the
front left and right handholds, while the other person grabs the
rear two handholds. Do not attempt to pick up the machine with
one person on the right side and one on the left.
Keep the printer level at all times to avoid oil spillage.
If the printer must be moved, remove the fuser and be sure it is
not tipped.

Optional Sheet Feeder

When the Optional Sheet Feeder's tray is open, printer functions are
temporarily interrupted. Closing the tray door returns the printer to
normal operation.

Using Print Density Adjustment (PDA)Panel

You can press the TEST PRINT button any time the printer is in
the Ready mode to print a test pattern print. This is because
these tests are basic engine tests and do not require the Video
Controller Board to operate.
The gradation test pattern works best (see Chapter 3 -
Diagnostic Aids, Test Print Selection, in the Service Manual).
On each service call, be sure each color is set at the default
(midrange) position. This affects color output.
If the PDA Panel is not operated for 30 seconds or more, it will
revert to OFF state.
Pressing only the + and - keys for at least 5 seconds will initialize
all adjustments as default settings.

Testing

Be aware that printing the Print Color Sample (Pantone) test will
take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Therefore, only run
this test when color matching is a problem.
Avoid using a new Photoconductor for diagnostic purposes, if
possible. The longevity counter resets with the installation of a
Photoconductor. Therefore, the printer will think the older
Photoconductor is new should you perform a reinstallation of it at
a later date.
