7.2 Configuration using link unit

7.2.1 No response (response not yet received), or occurrence of ille-
gal characters
In normal communication status, the STATUS indicators will appear as follows:
RUN
Normally lit
Lit during communication service
Check the following points based on the states of STATUS indicators on a link unit that has failed to
communicate.
Inability to communicate with any link unit

• Command format (availability of [SOH])
• Mismatching of communication protocol (Baud rate, etc) on upstream con-
troller with that of link unit
• Routing of RS-232C cable (adverse effect by external noise interference)
• Mismatching of node No. specified by a command, with that of a link unit
• Command format ([CR], calculation of FCS, inter-command character spac-
ing, etc.)
• Wiring connections of RS-232C cable (adverse effect by external noise inter-
ference)
• Same node No. has been assigned to two or more link units within a same

• Wiring connections of RS-232C cable (wrong connection)
• Switching timing (duration) for send/receive on the upstream controller that
is connected via. RS-485
• Check 24 VDC power supply.

• Mismatching of communication protocol (Baud rate, etc) on upstream con-
troller with that of link unit
• RS signal control on upstream controller (OFF before command has been
successfully transmitted)*2
• RS signal control on upstream controller (RS signal is normally ON) *2
• Check 24 VDC power supply.
