8.1.5 General Maintenance

WARNING!
Risk of Injury
Worn or damaged parts of the lift may cause
injury to the patient or assistants.
– After the first year of use, the hooks of the
lift arms and the mounting components should
be inspected to determine the extent of wear.
Check for signs of cracking, fraying, deformation
or deterioration. If these parts become worn,
they must be replaced.
– Periodically inspect all components of the
patient lift for signs of corrosion. Replace all
parts that are corroded or damaged.
Regular cleaning will reveal loose or worn parts,
enhance smooth operation and extend the life
expectancy of the lift.
Follow the maintenance procedures described in
this manual to keep your patient lift in continuous
service.
The Invacare lift is designed to provide safe, efficient and
satisfactory service with minimum care and maintenance.
It is important to inspect all stressed parts, such as slings,
lift arms and any pivot points for signs of wear, cracking,
fraying, deformation or deterioration. Replace any defective
parts immediately and ensure that the lift is not used until
repairs are made. Refer to the Safety Inspection Checklist
for specific information regarding wear items.
