SECTION 10—BATTERIES
Installing/Removing the Batteries (TDX SP with Vent
Tray Option)
Place the wheelchair in a well ventilated area where work can be performed
without risking damage to carpeting or floor covering.
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 10.3 on page 69.

Removing the Batteries

1. Place the wheelchair in a well ventilated area where work can be performed without 
risking damage to carpeting or floor covering.
2. Verify the joystick On/Off switch is in the Off position and disconnect joystick. Refer 
to Disconnecting/Connecting the Joysticks on page 69.
3. Remove the rear shroud, front shroud and battery retention bracket. Refer to 
Removing/Installing the Wheelchair Shrouds on page 71.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the controller connector.
5. Disconnect the front battery wiring harness from the ventilator connector.
6. Slide battery tray with batteries out.
7. Disconnect the battery straps.
8. Remove the front battery from the battery tray.
9. Disconnect the right battery from the left battery.
10. Remove the right and left batteries from the battery tray.

Installing the Batteries

1. If replacing the batteries, install the front and rear battery wiring harness. Refer to 
Connecting/Disconnecting the Battery Wiring Harness on page 72.
2. Position the right and left batteries onto the rear of the battery tray.
NOTE: Front of battery tray is designated by the battery stop. Rear of the battery tray is the 
opposite end.
NOTE: Orientation of the battery is critical otherwise batteries will not connect to the controller 
or each other.
3. Position the front battery onto the front of the battery tray.
4. Connect the right battery to the left battery.
5. Connect battery straps.
6. Slide the battery tray into the wheelchair.
7. Connect the wiring harness from the controller connector.
