Jib Boom Components

Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the
jib boom lift cylinder rod-end pivot pin. Use a
soft metal drift to remove the pin and let the
cylinder hang down.

Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane
to the barrel end of jib boom lift cylinder.

Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the
jib boom lift cylinder barrel-end pivot pin. Use
a soft metal drift to remove the pin.

Remove the jib boom lift cylinder from the
machine.
Crushing hazard. The jib boom
lift cylinder may become
unbalanced and fall when it is
removed from the machine if it is
not properly supported by the
overhead crane.

How to Remove the Jib Boom
Level Cylinder
Note: Perform this procedure with the boom in the
stowed position.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hose
end must be replaced. All connections must be
torqued to specification during installation. Refer to
Specifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications.

Extend the primary boom until the jib boom
level cylinder barrel-end pivot pin is
accessible.

Raise the jib boom above horizontal.

Attach an overhead crane to the jib boom
assembly for support.

Place a block under the jib boom level cylinder
for support. Protect the cylinder rod from
damage.

Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the
jib boom level cylinder rod-end pivot pin. Use a
soft metal drift to remove the pin.

Crushing hazard. The jib boom
could fall if not properly
supported when the jib boom
level cylinder rod-end pivot pin is
removed.
