2.1.2.2 Film Carrier Main Scanning

The film carrier is stored on the carrier holder unit. At the main scanning, the main scan motor where on

the bottom of the optical unit drives carrier holder unit via reduction gear, then the carrier holder unit

moves forward and backward and the main scanning is done. Refer to Figure 2-8.

There is linear gear track at the bottom of the carrier holder unit as a parallel with movement direction,

without timing belt. The home position of the carrier holder unit is detected by the photo sensor for the

scanning, which is mounted on the optical unit.

The APS holder is stored on the carrier holder unit. The image reading method is the same as both

preview and main scanning. At the scanning, the main scan motor where on the bottom of the optical unit

drives carrier holder unit via reduction gear, then the carrier holder unit moves forward and backward and

the scanning is done. Refer to Figure 2-9.
