Repositioning The Rear Wheels

WARNING
The necessary back angle (90°, 95°, 1.00°, 105° or 110°) MUST be selected BEFORE repositioning the rear wheels forward
and adjusting the limit stops. DO NOT adjust the back angle AFTER the rear wheels have been repositioned forward.
Rear wheels may have to be repositioned rearward depending on the degree of tilt-in-space required. Mount rear wheels in
the LAST mounting hole when using 45° tilt-in-space on short seat frames (15 to 18-inches) and long seat frames (18 to
19-inches).
To maintain the stability of the wheelchair when moving the rear wheels to ANY forward position, the amount of tilt
MUST be limited by adjusting the limit stop on the gas cylinder to prevent the chair from tipping onto the anti-tippers.
ALWAYS ensure stability BEFORE using maximum amount of tilt-in-space. TEST chair BEFORE occupied for safety.
When repositioning 12-inch rear wheels along the chair frame, use ONLY one (1) of the THREE (3) rear mounting
positions to ensure proper engagement of the wheel locks.
1.
Remove the rear wheelchair from the chair. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels on page 41.
2.
Remove bolts, washers and locknuts that secure the axle mounting bracket to the wheelchair frame.
3.
Reposition axle mounting bracket to required location on wheelchair frame.
4.
Reinstall bolts, washers and locknuts and securely tighten.
5.
Repeat procedure for opposite axle mounting plate and anti-tipper bracket.
WARNING
The locking pins MUST BE protruding past the inside of the rear wheel mounting bracket.
Both rear wheels MUST be in the same position on the chair frame.
