Engaging the Tilt-in-Space System

ALWAYS make sure that the chair is stable BEFORE using tilt-in-space. Rear wheels may have to be repositioned rearward
depending on the degree of tilt-in-space required. ALWAYS ensure stability BEFORE using maximum amount of
tilt-in-space (45°) test the wheelchair BEFORE it is occupied BY end user to ensure safety.
To maintain stability of the wheelchair when moving the rear wheels to ANY forward position, the amount of tilt MUST be
limited by adjusting the limit stops on the gas cylinders to prevent the chair from tipping onto the anti-tippers.
Both gas cylinders MUST be operational before using the chair. DO NOT operate the tilt-in-space if only one (1) of the
cylinders is operational.
The Concept 45 wheelchair MUST be operated by an attendant when in any tilted position.
1.
Place the chair on a level surface.
2.
Engage both wheel locks.
3.
Inform the occupant of the chair that the chair is about to be tilted
and remind them to lean back.
4.
Stand behind the chair and grasp the back cane firmly.
5.
Pull up on the trigger release levers to release the gas cylinder.
6.
SLOWLY, push down on the back cane while pulling up on the
trigger release levers in a continuous motion.
7.
When the seat reaches the desired angle, SLOWLY let go of the
trigger release lever.
8.
