REAR WHEELS
This Procedure Includes the Following:

Removing/Installing the Rear Wheels

Replacing Rear Wheel Handrim
Replacing/Repairing Rear Wheel Tire/Tube
Adjusting the Quick-Release Axle
WARNING
After ANY adjustments, repair or service and BE-
FORE use, make sure all attaching hardware is
tightened securely - otherwise injury or damage
may result.
NOTE: Refer to PROCEDURE 1 - GENERAL
GUIDELINES which include GENERAL WARNINGS.
REMOVING/INSTALLING THE REAR
WHEELS
WARNING
If changing the size of the rear wheel or a change
in the SEAT-TO-FLOOR HEIGHT is desired, this pro-
cedure must be performed by a qualified
technician.
Permanent Axles (FIGURE 1)
NOTE: If replacing the same size rear wheel, note the
mounting position on the wheelchair frame for proper
reinstallation of the NEW rear wheel.
1. Remove the dust cap (if applicable) , mounting screw
and locknut that secure the rear wheel and axle spacer
to the wheelchair.
2. Repeat STEP 1 for the opposite rear wheel.
3. To reinstall the rear wheel onto the wheelchair, reverse
STEPS 1-2.

- PERMANENT AXLES
Quick-Release Axles (FIGURE 2)
NOTE: If replacing the same size rear wheel, note the
mounting position on the wheelchair frame for proper
reinstallation of the NEW rear wheel.
1. Push the dentent pin in the tip of the quick-release

Keep locking pins clean.
Invacare recommends inserting quick-
release axles with the head end to the
inside of the wheelchair to prevent acci-
dental release during contact activities.
