Performing with the pad audio
play function
Pad audio play is a function that lets you use the front panel
buttons and 16 pads to switch instantly between audio songs
recorded by the KROSS's audio recorder or existing audio
files.
Note: One song (one file) can be assigned to each of the 16
pads. A maximum of one audio song can play back
simultaneously.
Note: In order to use this function, there must be an SD card
formatted by the KROSS which contains audio songs
recorded by the KROSS or audio files that meet the
requirements listed in "Data that can be played back,"
below. If the SD card contains no data, this function cannot
be used.
Data that can be played back
• File format: WAVE format uncompressed linear PCM
• Bit depth: 16-bit
• Sampling frequency: 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, stereo files
Specifying an audio song and
assigning the song to a pad
Note: The settings here are also reflected in the AUDIO
RECORDER SETUP window.
Note: When audio song settings are changed, data is loaded
from the SD card. Never remove the SD card while this
operation is being performed.
1. While holding down the EXIT button (
press the AUDIO PLAY ACTIVE button (
to open the AUDIO PLAY SETUP window.
2. Select the audio play bank. Use the BANK SELECT
button and the indication of the BANK LEDs to
switch banks.
3. Press the pad to which you want to assign an audio
song or whose settings you want to change, or use the
cursor keys to select it.
4. Press the MENU (EDIT) button to open the AUDIO
SONG SETUP window.

5. Select the audio song that you want to assign.
Note: Following the audio songs, the audio song list also
shows a list of the WAV files that have been placed in the
specified location of the SD card. When you select one of
these, the Import Wav dialog box appears.
When you execute Import Wav, the file is imported as a
new audio song. ("Importing or exporting WAVE files"
on page 105)
6. Select the take of the selected audio song recorded by
the KROSS. Use the PAGE- (UNDO) button to open
the dialog box, and use the cursor keys to select the
take.
7. Adjust settings for loop playback. If you turn on
LOOP by adding a check mark,the song loops when it
is played back. Specify the loop region by setting the
loop start location (point A) and end location (point
B).
Note: Point A and point B will be at least three seconds
apart.
8. You can use the MENU (Start) button and PAGE+
(Stop/Reset) button to play back the audio song and

Note: If you move the cursor to A or B, and press the
ENTER button during playback, the current time is
specified as the playback point.
9. When you've finished making settings, press the EXIT
button to close the AUDIO SONG SETUP window.
Using the pads to play back audio
songs
1. Make sure that the AUDIO PLAY ACTIVE button is
lit. To turn on the pad audio play function, press
AUDIO PLAY ACTIVE button.
2. Pads to which an audio song is assigned are lit. When
you press a lit pad, the assigned audio song plays.
During playback, the pad is lit more brightly.
3. When you once again press the currently-playing pad,
playback is paused and the pad blinks. Pressing the
pad once again in this state starts playback from the
paused location.
4. When there is a pad whose audio song is playing, you
can press a different lit pad to stop the currently-
playing audio song and instantly switch to playing a
different audio song.
