Manual transmission FSG 310

The new A-Class is fitted with a manual 3-shaft
transmission with 6 forward gears. For the
A 180 CDI with the OM 607 engine, only the
manual transmission is available.
A hydraulic central clutch release bearing provides
maintenance-free and comfortable clutch opera-
tion.
The output shaft for gears 3/4 and R is supplied
with oil via oil ducts and does not run in the oil
sump. This reduces the drag torque. Shift comfort is
also improved, particularly at low temperatures.

To further reduce the shift forces, the weight-opti-
mized aluminum shift forks are supported on the
shift rods with babbit bearings.
The manual transmission main shifter shaft position
sensor (magnetic induction) and a permanent
magnet mounted on the main shifter shaft detect
the transmission's neutral position for controlling
the start/stop function and engagement of reverse
gear for activation of the backup lights.
All models feature a two-mass flywheel for
improved comfort.
