To remove the layer of salt:
Apply the brakes from time to time, paying

attention to traffic conditions.
Carefully apply the brakes at the end of a trip

and after commencing a new trip.
ECO start/stop function
How the ECO start/stop function oper-
ates

WARNING
If the engine is switched off automatically and
you exit the vehicle, the engine is restarted
automatically. The vehicle may begin moving.
There is a risk of accident and injury.
If you wish to exit the vehicle, always turn off
the ignition and secure the vehicle against
rolling away.
The engine is switched off automatically in the
following cases:
when you select neutral i, when the vehicle
R
is stationary, and then release the clutch
pedal.
All on vehicle conditions for automatic engine
R
switch-off are met.
While the vehicle is stationary, the è symbol
appears in green in the multifunction display.
The engine restarts automatically in the follow-
ing cases:
you depress the clutch pedal.
R
you select reverse gear k.
R
you depress the accelerator pedal.
R
an-on vehicle automatic engine start is
R
required.

Activating and deactivating the ECO
start/stop function
Press the è button.

If the indicator lamp : in the button is lit, the
ECO start/stop function is activated.

Select reverse gear k only when the vehi-
cle is stationary. You could otherwise damage
the transmission.

Mercedes-Benz recommends pulling away
in 2nd gear, on level ground and in unladen
condition.
