Replacing a fan tray

CAUTION:
• Keep your hands away from the spinning fan blades when removing the fan tray.
• Do not keep the router working without a fan tray for more than two minutes because poor
ventilation might result in damage to the router.

Replacing a fan tray for an HSR6802/HSR6804 router

The methods for replacing fan trays for the HSR6802 and HSR6804 are the same. This procedure
uses an HSR6804.
To replace a fan tray:
Face the front of the router.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to completely loosen the captive screws of the fan tray to be

removed.
Holding the handle of the fan tray with one hand and supporting the bottom of the fan tray with

the other hand, gently pull the fan tray out of the slot along the slide rails.

the other hand, gently push the fan tray into the slot along the slide rails until it is completely
seated.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the captive screws on the fan tray.

Replacing a fan tray for an HSR6808 router

Face the front of the router.

Press the fan tray release button with the thumb, slightly pull the fan tray away from the chassis,

and slowly pull the fan tray out along the slide rails when fans stop spinning.
Holding the front part of the fan tray with one hand and pressing down the release button with
3.
the thumb, and supporting the bottom of the fan tray with the other hand, push the fan tray into
the slot along the slide rails until the fan tray makes complete contact with the backplane.
