Specifying machine functions (software switch settings)
SMTP authentication is enabled when the following conditions are met.

Bit 6 of mode 383 is set to "1".

Bit 5, 4 or 3 of mode 383 is set to "1".

If all e-mail authentication methods are enabled (bits 5, 4 and 3 of mode 383 are set to "1"), they will
have the following priority: CRAM-MD5 authentication (bit 5) → LOGIN authentication (bit 4) → PLAIN
authentication (bit 3).
