AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT OF EXPOSURE AND
IMAGE QUALITY
With this mode, the unit adjusts the copy exposure and
image quality levels automatically to suit the original,
before making copies. The image mode's default setting
is TEXT and the exposure is adjusted by pressing a
button.
The unit judges the exposure each time an original is
scanned so that copies made from originals with colored
backgrounds onto white paper will not have smudges
in the background.
NOTE: If the original is a transparency, you may not be
able to use this function. If so, adjust the copy exposure
using manual exposure control.
To adjust automatically the exposure of the copy and
the quality of the original, proceed as follows:
1. Press F3 (SCAN MODE).
2. Press F2 (AUTO EXPOSUR).
❏ If you press F1 (LIGHT) or F3 (DARK) while
automatic exposure control is active, the F2
(AUTO EXPOSUR) button returns to normal and
manual exposure control becomes active.
3. Press Set.
❏ If you do not press Set within three seconds of
selecting AUTO EXPOSUR, your selection will
automatically be set without you having to press
Set.

MAKING TWO-SIDED COPIES MANUALLY

When copying onto both sides, remove the paper
already copied on one side from the output tray, turn it
over, and place it in the stack bypass tray as shown.
❏ When setting the paper in the stack bypass,
make sure there is no curl in the paper and the
leading edge of the paper is slightly turned
down. This ensure a smooth feed.
❏ You can also load up to 20 sheets in the stack
bypass when copying on the other side of a
sheet already copied on one side.
