• Windows 95 does not support USB.
• Windows 98 upgraded from Windows 95 may not support
USB.
• Windows 98 original installation and Windows Me, 2000,
NT and XP all support USB.
• The printer cannot be used with a USB hub.
Possible cause
Computer does not
support USB interface.
USB cable does not meet
specifications.
Interface is disabled.
Configuration procedure
was not correctly followed
or cancelled.
USB cable is
disconnected or faulty.
A USB hub is being used.
Printout is garbled or incorrect with parallel connection.
Possible cause
Possible mismatch on
parallel connection between
computer and printer.
Remedy
Check if there is a USB controller in the Windows device
manager.
Use USB cable to specification Ver.1.1.
Check that USB interface is set to Enable.
Configure again from the beginning.
Reconnect or try another cable.
The printer cannot be used with a USB hub. Connect the
printer and computer directly.
Remedy
Change parallel transmission mode (see Parallel
Transmission Mode above).
