Placing Powerplanes

Splitting Copper

Powerplanes are copper areas that cover the entire plane.
Complete the following steps to place a powerplane:
1.
In the Layers tab, select the layer to be used as a powerplane.
2.
Choose Place»Powerplane. The Choose Net and Layer for
Powerplane dialog box appears.
3.
Specify the Net and Layer for the powerplane.
4.
Click OK. The Choose Net and Layer for Powerplane dialog box
disappears and the powerplane is placed on the layer that you
specified.
The Polygon Splitter is used to split copper areas or powerplanes.
Complete the following steps to split a copper area or powerplane:
1.
Choose Design»Polygon Splitter.
2.
Move the pointer to the polygon you want to split.
3.
Click at the point where you want to begin the split.
4.
Move the pointer over the polygon. A line appears to indicate where
the split will occur. Move the line to the desired place and click to
finish the split.
5.
Right-click to cancel the Polygon Splitter function.
