Troubleshooting
Problem
Water in pump oil
Packings failing frequently or prema-
turely
Strong surging at inlet, and low pres-
sure on discharge side

Cause
Humid air condensing inside crank-
case
Worn packings
Oil seals are leaking
Scored, damaged, or worn plungers
Abrasive material in the fluid being
pumped
Inlet water temperature too high
Over pressurized pump
Excessive pressure due to partially
plugged or damaged nozzle
Pump running too long without spray-
ing
Running pump dry
Foreign particles in the inlet or dis-
charge valve, or worn inlet and/or
discharge valves
Solution
Change oil as specified in Mainte-
nance on page 15.
Install new packings.
Install new oil seals.
Install new plungers.
Install proper filtration on pump inlet
plumbing.
Check water temperature. It should
not exceed 140°F (60°C).
Do not modify any factory-set adjust-
ments. See Equipment Misuse Haz-
ard on page 6.
Clean or replace nozzle. See Nozzle
Connection on page 10.
Never run pump more than 10 min-
utes without spraying.
Do not run pump without water.
Clean or replace valves.
