Via HDMI cable

b
Connect the receiver (HDMI output) and TV receiver (HDMI input) by an HDMI cable.
If your TV set is equipped appropriately then it will automatically switch to the HDMI
input when the digital receiver is switched on.

4.3 Connection to a television set

c
Use the SCART cable supplied to connect the receiver (SCART socket TV) with
the television set (SCART socket). If your television set is appropriately equipped, this
will be switched to AV mode automatically when the digital receiver is switched on,
and is thus switched to Sat. mode.

4.4 HiFi amplifier

4.4.1 Analogue
d
To achieve the best possible sound quality, you can connect your digital receiver to a
hi-fi amplifier. To do this, use a suitable cable to connect the cinch sockets Audio R
and Audio L of the digital receiver with an input of your hi-fi amplifier (e.g. CD or
AUX; note that the phono input is not suitable!).
4.4.2 Digital
d
If your amplifier has an appropriate optical input then connect the AUDIO OUT
DIGITAL socket optically to the optical input on your amplifier.
Depending on the signal provided by each individual channel, sampling rates of 32, 44.1
and 48 kHz are available. In addition, where broadcast, the Dolby Digital signal (AC3) is
also available.

4.5 Serial interface (RS 232)

The RS 232 interface is used in conjunction with updating the operating software or pre-
programming via a PC.

4.6 Smartcard

Slide the IRDETO Smartcard (golden chip pointing downwards and aligned towards the
slide-in) carefully in the card reader up to the stop (see Point 2 Illustrations).

4.7 Mains power connection

The digital receiver should only be connected to the mains power supply once you have
completed making all the connections with the various other components. This will avoid
possible damage to the digital receiver or other components.
e
Once you have made all the other connections, use the mains adapter supplied to
connect the receiver to a mains power outlet 230 V/50-60 Hz.
