Processor Card

The following procedures cover removal and replacement of the processor card.
Before performing these procedures, read "Handling Static-Sensitive Devices" on
page 254.

Removal

1. If you have not already done so, shut down the system as described in "Stopping
the System" on page 254.
2. If you have not already done so, unplug the system power cable from the electrical
outlet.
3. If your system is a Model 6C1 (rack mount), place the system in the service position
as described in "Placing the Model 6C1 in the Service Position" on page 255.
4. If you have not already done so, remove the service access cover as described in
"Covers" on page 258.
5. Remove the processor and memory card cover as described in "Processor and
Memory Card Cover" on page 264.
6. The processor card is secured in place with retention latches, one on each end of
the card. Open the retention latches.
