Manual Head Cleanings

Solvent printers accumulate a lot of ink gunk on the print head and other areas, and
manual cleanings may be necessary during your print session.
You should only perform print head cleanings if you are experiencing a result of ink
build-up on your prints (horizontal smears of ink when the print head passes, failed
auto nozzle cleanings).
1. Open the left side compartment and remove the cleaning supply tray. Place it on
the ground along with the print head cleaning solvent and some paper towel. Close
the compartment cover
2. In the print control panel go to Maintenance > Head Maintenance. Select OK.
3. The print head will move from its capped position on the right of the printer to the
left side compartment area. Open that cover again.

4. Dip a swab from the maintenance kit into the print head cleaner. Use the corners of
the swabs to wipe away any ink that has accumulated around the nozzle edges.
Once a swap has picked up ink on each corner, throw it away and use a new one.
5. Wipe away any ink that has gathered or splashed on the edges of the print head.
6. Wipe down the media sensor on each print head.
7. Use a swab to wet the maintenance kit squeegee with cleaning fluid. Squeegee the
print head from back to front (one pass only) to remove ink buildup. Clean the
squeegee with fluid and paper towel and remove any ink before putting it back in
the cleaning supply tray.
