Problem
Lens aperture ring is not set to
minimum aperture.
Low battery.
• Battery exhausted.
• Battery can not be used.
• An extremely exhausted
rechargeable Li-ion battery
or a third-party battery is
inserted either in the camera
or in the optional MB-D80
battery pack.
Camera clock is not set.
• No lens attached.
• Non-CPU lens attached.
Camera unable to focus using
autofocus.
Subject too bright; photo will
be overexposed.
Subject too dark; photo will be
underexposed.

Solution
Set ring to minimum aperture
(largest f-number).
Ready a fully-charged spare
battery.
• Recharge or replace battery.
• Use Nikon-approved battery,
or contact Nikon-authorized
service representative.
• Replace the battery, or
recharge the battery if the
rechargeable Li-ion battery
is exhausted.
Set camera clock.
• Attach non-IX Nikkor lens.
• Select mode M.
Focus manually.
• Use a lower ISO sensitivity
• Use optional ND filter
• In exposure mode:
S Increase shutter speed
A Choose a smaller aperture
(larger f-number)
• Use a higher ISO sensitivity
• Use flash
• In exposure mode:
S Lower shutter speed
A Choose a larger aperture
(smaller f-number)
Change shutter speed or select
manual exposure mode.
