First Operation
2.1

Instruction

Instruction is required before first ope-
ration. First instruction into handling of
the machine must be held by a qualified
person sent by your local PowerBoss
contract dealer. Your PowerBoss dea-
ler will be informed by the manufacturer
upon delivery of the vehicle and will
contact you to make a date for instruc-
tion.
2.2

Prior to starting up

Carry out the following checks before

starting the vehicle:

1. Check the parking space for signs of
leaks. Hoses, lines and tanks must
show no signs of leaks or damage.
2. Check the fuel supply, refill if neces-
sary; refer to Chapter Maintenance.
3. Check the engine oil level, refer to
Chapter Maintenance.
4. Check the hydraulic oil level, refer to
Chapter Maintenance.
The hydraulic system cannot bring
its full performance at low tempera-
tures!
5. Check the seat adjustment, refer to
Chapter Operation.
6. Check the steering wheel adjust-
ment, refer to Chapter Operation.
2.3
Starting the vehicle
Before starting the vehicle, pay
attention to the operating infor-
mation in Chapter "Safety In-
formation".
The following operating elements must
be actuated in succession to start the
vehicle:
For safety reasons, the driver's
seat is equipped with a seat
contact switch. The function of
the seat contact switch must
not be bypassed.
1. All control levers and switches
(sweepings container, rotary brush,
accelerator, etc.) must be in their
neutral position. The zero setting is
monitored electronically. A deflection
of the pedal from this position pre-
vents the engine being started.
2. The vehicle's parking brake must be
applied.
3. Set the engine speed switch to idling
speed.
4. Turn the ignition key clockwise a litt-
le. The preheating control lamp lights
up. Continue preheating until the
control lamp goes out.
5. Turn the ignition key further to start
the engine. The load control lamp
goes out. The fuel quantity, engine
oil pressure, engine temperature and
battery charge indicators appear.
6. Set the engine speed switch to its id-
ling position and allow the engine to
warm up a little.
The Hako-Jonas 1900 may
only be used in ambient tem-
peratures up to 40°C.
It should not be started at tem-
peratures <-15°C. At extremely
low temperatures, the hydrau-
lic system requires a few minu-
tes until it reaches operating
temperature and can provide
its full power output. Full loads
should only be applied to the
units on reaching operating
temperature.
If the start procedure must be
repeated or the engine stalls, it
can only be restarted after the
ignition has been switched off.
A restart blocking system in the
ignition lock prevents restar-
ting when the engine is run-
