Replacing and Shaking
Cartridges
The printer cannot print unless all installed ink
cartridges are available. If an ink low warning is
displayed, we recommend replacing the ink cartridge(s)
as soon as possible.
If an ink cartridge runs out while printing, you can
continue printing after replacing the ink cartridge.
However, if the ink cartridge is replaced during a print
job, the tone of the print results may differ depending on
the drying conditions.
One of the characteristics of the ink (especially White
ink) used by the printer is that sedimentation occurs
easily. If you use ink with a sediment, the print quality
may decline and a printer malfunction may occur. To
maintain quality, the ink cartridges need to be shaken
periodically.
Procedure
The same procedure applies for replacing an ink
cartridge and shaking an already installed cartridge.
Important:

Epson recommends the use of genuine Epson ink
cartridges. Epson cannot guarantee the quality or
reliability of nongenuine ink. The use of
non-genuine ink may cause damage that is not
covered by Epson's warranties, and under certain
circumstances, may cause erratic printer behavior.
Information about non-genuine ink levels may not
be displayed, and use of non-genuine ink is recorded
for possible use in service support.

Make sure the printer is on.

Open the cartridge cover.

Put your finger into the indentation on top of the
ink cartridge and pull it straight out.
Important:

Removed ink cartridges may have ink around
the ink supply port, so be careful not to soil the
surrounding area.

As shown in the following illustration, shake the
cartridge horizontally in 5 cm movements from
side-to-side.
When replacing a cartridge, remove it from the
bag before shaking.
As shown in the following table, the number of
times you need to shake the cartridge differs by
color.
