Options for Your Home Network Connection
There are several methods available for connecting your Hopper with Sling HD DVR
system to you home network with broadband Internet access. (Normally, an authorized
DISH technician or retail installer will connect your system to your high-speed Internet
service.) Some of the connectivity options include:

Check if Your Hopper with Sling HD DVR is Connected
To check your connection to broadband Internet service, do the following:

Press the MENU button, highlight and select the Settings tile from the Main Menu, then
Network Setup, and then Broadband.

The current status of your Home Network Connection will be displayed.
To check your connection to an active telephone line, do the following:

Press the MENU button, highlight and select the Settings tile from the Main Menu, then
Network Setup, and then Phone Line.

The current status of your phone-line connection will be displayed.
Note:
Wi-Fi is built in to your Hopper with Sling HD DVR system, so it is able to connect
wirelessly without other external equipment.
Press the MENU button, highlight and select the Settings tile from the Main Menu,
then Network Setup, and then Broadband. Current network status is displayed here.
To establish a wireless connection to your network using internal Wi-Fi, choose
Wireless from the drop-down menu of options. If you are setting up internal Wi-Fi for
this Hopper with Sling HD DVR for the first time, highlight and select the Wireless
Setup option and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Using an Ethernet cable plugged in to one of the two LAN ports on the back panel of
your Hopper with Sling HD DVR.
Press the MENU button, highlight and select the Settings tile from the Main Menu,
then Network Setup, and then Broadband. Current network status is displayed here.
To establish a wired connection to your network, choose Ethernet Top or Ethernet
Bottom from the drop-down menu of options, depending on which back-panel network
port you plugged your Ethernet cable into.
An optional Power Line Broadband Connector Kit (sometimes called HomePlug-to-
Ethernet Bridges) is available that allows multiple DISH receivers to connect to your
broadband Internet service through device power cords and the electrical wiring
already in your home. Visit the mydish.com/orderfromstore website to check on
ordering this kit.
If the Hopper with Sling HD DVR is connected, the linked Joey Receivers are too.
