STEP 2 - Initial Camera Settings

Setup your camera for underwater use and then adjust your settings once underwater.

Insert a fully charged camera battery and a SD card.

Set Mode Dial to "Av" Aperture Priority. Set aperture to F5.6, or F18 for
macro photography (close-ups). If faster shutter speeds are desired or a
DS-series strobe is not being used, then set Mode Dial to "M" Manual
Mode and shutter speed to 1/60th second or 1/125th second for fast
moving subjects. Other shooting modes are not recommended.
In
1 Menu:

Caution: Save recorded images on the SD card to a computer or other
device before formatting card. In Card Setup, set Format to "Yes."
In Record Mode set Still Picture to LF or other desired setting. Set Movie
to "MOV to FullHD
In
2 MENU set Image Stabilizer (Still Picture) to "S-IS-AUTO."

In A. Custom MENU: Set AF Mode Still Pictures to "S-AF."

Set Full-time AF to "Off." Set Reset Lens to "Off."
Set Home A. AF/MF to the center. Set AF Illuminat. to "Off."
Set Face Priority to "Off" and Area Pointer to "on."
In F.
Custom Menu: set X-Sync. to 1/250 and Slow Limit to 1/60.

In J. Custom Menu: Set Touch Screen Settings to "Off."

MENU: Set Rec View to "4sec."

In OK Menu:

Set White Balance to "Auto." For best results, set to Manual
Balance and reset for each working depth or when using a color filter.
Set Aspect Ratio to "4:3" or other desired setting.
Set Flash to "Fill In
Set Metering to "Ctr-weighted
Set Face and Eye Priority to "Off."

All camera functions not mentioned should be set to the user preference.
