    SECTION 2: INSTALLING THE SYSTEM Weatherproof cameras compatible with your DVR may have cables attached to the camera body and not routed through the camera base. If these cameras are installed in a moist environment, a drip loop should be constructed in the drop cable such that moisture will tend to flow away from the camera and drop cable connectors.

    SECTION 2: INSTALLING THE SYSTEM 2.6.1 Using the Wizard for basic configuration setup 1. Power on the DVR. Normally, an Alibi logo splash screen appears within 2 minutes. A secondary flash screen will appear showing the status of the HDDs installed in the DVR. 2. After the initial Alibi loading window (see above), a menu language screen may appear. Select the preferred language from the drop-down list, then click Apply.

  • Page 28 SECTION 2: INSTALLING THE SYSTEM Generally, it is preferable to setup the DVR with a fixed network settings, if possible, to assure the DVR has an unchanging IP address for remote login. To enable fixed network settings, un-check the Enable DHCP box, then edit the appropriate fields to change the settings.

    SECTION 2: INSTALLING THE SYSTEM 2.8 Customize camera configurations The Camera menu lists all cameras configured in the DVR, and shows the channel, name, timestamp, etc. of each. Using this menu, you can assign names to each camera for easy recognition, select areas for motion detection and privacy blocking, and configure alarm features (if supported by the camera).

    SECTION 2: INSTALLING THE SYSTEM Image setup Using the Camera Image submenu, you can adjust several aspects of the image (brightness, contrast, etc) to improve the visual quality of the video. You can configure two different camera image setups to adjust the camera for two different lighting conditions, such as day and night.

This feature allows you to configure thresholds for Blurred Image, Abnormal Brightness, and Color Cast and configure the DVR to perform actions on a schedule when these aspects are above threshold.

However, you can configure the partition to allocate a set portion of the partition to each the recordings of each camera. If multiple disks (internal HDD and network drives) are installed, individual cameras or groups of cameras can be configured to save their recordings to assigned areas on those drives.
