4. Install the drain plug and
tighten to 18 ft-lb. Pour the rec-
ommended lubricant in the fill
hole. Install fill plug.
5. Start the engine (while the ATV
is outside on level ground) and
allow it to idle for a few min-
utes.
6. Turn the engine off and wait approximately one minute. Recheck
the lubricant level. The level should be visible on the fill plug tip.
If lubricant is not visible, add recommended lubricant until the
level is visible at the threads of the fill/level plug.
7. Inspect the area around the drain plug for leaks.

! WARNING
Be sure to inspect the hand brake systems before each use.
Always maintain brakes according to the Maintenance Schedule.

Brake Lever Lock

Check to make sure the brake lever
lock engages properly and that the
rear brake (when engaged) locks
the rear wheels.
1. Compress the left brake lever.
2. Engage the brake lever lock.
3. The rear brake should lock.
4. Attempt to push the ATV.
NOTE: The brake must lock the wheels. If not, take the ATV
to an authorized Arctic Cat ATV dealer for service.
Checking/Adjusting Front Wheel Brake
System
1. Raise ATV enough to allow the wheels to spin freely.
2. On the brake lever/cable assem-
bly, loosen both jam nuts. Turn
both cable adjusters counter-
clockwise
until

wheels do not spin freely.
3. Turn both cable adjusters in 1/4
turn
increments
until wheels spin with a very
slight amount of drag.
4. Lower ATV, push ATV forward, and compress brake lever.
5. If front wheels lock, adjustment is correct.
6. If front wheels do not lock, additional adjustment is necessary.
Checking/Adjusting
Rear Wheel Hydraulic
Brake System
The rear wheel hydraulic brake sys-
tem should be checked for proper
operation before every time the ATV
is ridden.
NOTE: The rear wheels should spin freely with the brake
lever released.

Check through the rear brake reservoir sight glass that the fluid
level is above the LOWER level line. If below the line, take the
ATV to an authorized Arctic Cat ATV dealer for service.
