3 Filling

The boiler may be filled using the drain tap or water make-up system.
Filling should be done at a slow flow rate in order to purge all the air
contained in the system through air vents installed at the system high
points. Filling is always done with circulating pumps stopped.

of use. It is only aimed at drawing attention to the basic
rules which must be complied with. In all events, com-
ply with applicable codes of practice and national or
local regulations.

A pressure relief valve is required, the relief valve must be rated for the same capacity
as the appliance. The relief must be a certified type by ASME/CSA B51. The relief must
be piped to discharge hot water to the nearest drain, they will avoid personal injury or
property damage. The relief must be installed in accordance to local and national codes
having jurisdiction.
Hot water boiler above the radiation level or as required by authority having jurisdiction,
must be equipped with a low water cutoff device.
Suitable protection to avoid indigestion of water shall be provided to the boiler controls
and burners.
